Managing tests includes performing functions like:
- Configuring test settings
- Sharing the test with other faculty members
- Adding questions
- Reordering questions
- Assigning tests to students or a student group
- Publishing tests
- Assessing test results
Test Settings
After creating a test, it needs to be scheduled so it displays on students’ ‘View Test’ page. A test may also be shared with others. This section will cover both topics.
To configure test settings, perform the following steps.
- Click on the menu and select Testing -> Test Management.
- From the Test Management page, click on the desired test name. By default, the Test Settings tab is displayed.
Complete the fields according to the guidelines below.

The start date is used to determine when students receive a system-generated notification and an email that a test has been assigned. The start date is optional and if a start time is not defined, the test will begin as soon as it’s published. Note: The system-generated notification is only sent when the test has reached its start date & time. The email notification is sent as soon as the test is published. · No start date. When a start date isn’t entered the test is available for students as soon as it’s published. · Start date. When a start date is entered, the start time field is enabled. When both a start date and time are entered, the test will be available to the student when both the start date and time have been reached and a notification will display on the student’s dashboard. Note: Once a test has reached its start date & time it may not be unpublished. · Future start date. When a test has a future start date and time and the test is published, it will not be available to the student and a notification will not display until the start date & time have been reached. Note: Future dated tests may be unpublished & re-published should changes be required. |

Start Time (optional) |
The test will not display to a student until the start time has been reached. If a start time isn’t entered, it will default to 12AM. See Start Date for more details. |

Note: Students can still submit a test after the due date has passed; however, once faculty closes the test, the student will no longer be able to interact with the test as it is automatically submitted & graded off its current state. |

Share Test
Tests can be shared so that multiple people may monitor student progress as well as review the test results and analysis.
To share a test, perform the following steps.
- From the menu, click on Testing -> Test Management. The Test Management page displays.
- Click on the desired test name. The Test Settings page displays.
- In the sharing section, click on the share icon to display a list of people identified as faculty members associated with your school.

- Select the check boxes next to the desired faculty members and click Share. The newly added faculty members display beneath the Sharing section.

Note: Faculty members can remove themselves from the sharing list; however, once removed, they must contact another faculty member with whom the test has been shared to be re-added.
Faculty will know when a test has been shared because an indicator displays on the Test Management page next to the pool name. When hovered over, the name of the person who shared the test, is displayed.
Only the original author may delete the test; however, anyone on the ‘share’ list can add or remove questions (if the test hasn’t been published), copy the test, and/or review results and analysis.
Close Test
Closing a test forces the test to be submitted and graded, even if the student hasn’t completed it. The ‘Close’ button will only display when one of the following conditions have been met.
- The test’s due date and time have been reached.
- All students have submitted the test, even if the due date and time haven’t been reached.
- The test was configured without a due date and time.
To close a test, perform the following steps.
- From the Test Management page, search for the desired test. When the test has met one of the above conditions, a close button is displayed on the Test Management page.
You can close the test from the Test Management page or click on the test title to close the test from the Test Settings page.
- Click the Close The ‘Close Test’ modal is displayed.
- Click Yes to close the test or No to cancel. A confirmation message is displayed.
Warning: Once the test is closed, it cannot be reopened.
Note: If there are students who have not completed the test, the test will be automatically submitted in its current state and graded “as is”.
Faculty will know when a student hasn’t completed their test by viewing the data on the ‘Results’ and/or ‘Analysis’ tabs. Questions will display as ‘unanswered’.

Add Questions to a Test
If you created a test from the Test Management page you will need to add questions to the test before it can be published. If you created a test from the Question Explorer page or from a Pool, you may want to add additional questions.
To add questions to a test, perform the following steps.
- From the Test Management page, click on the desired test name, then click on the Add Questions button. The search page is displayed.
There are two ways to add questions to a test.
- From search
- From pool(s)
Add Questions from Search
- Enter a search term and press Enter. The search results page is displayed.
Note: Questions that already exist on the test are highlighted in green.
- Select the check box next to the questions you’d like to add to the test. A confirmation message is displayed for each added question and the question count will increase.
To remove questions from the test, click the check box next to the desired questions. A confirmation message is displayed.
Add Questions from Pool(s)
To add questions from pool(s), perform the following steps.
- On the ‘Add Questions’ tab, click on the Search by pool instead? link.
A drop-down with the names of existing pools is displayed.
Note: The number to the right of each pool indicates the number of questions in the pool. Pools without questions will be displayed; however, they will be disabled.
- Select the desired pool and click Enter. The pool of questions is displayed.
- Select the questions to be added to the test. A confirmation message will display for each added question and the selected questions will display with a green background.
To remove questions, deselect the check box next to the desired question(s). A confirmation message is displayed.
Reorder Test Questions
After adding questions to a test, you may want the questions to display on the test in a specific order.
To reorder test questions, perform the following steps.
- From the Test Management page, click on the desired test name, then click the Manage Questions button. The ‘Manage Questions’ page is displayed.
The following functionality can be performed on this page:
- Reorder questions by dragging and dropping
- Preview questions by clicking on the question title (blue text)
- Add additional questions (redirects you to the ‘Add Questions’ tab)
- Delete questions
Assign Tests
Part of the test creation process is assigning the test to students and/or a student group. When a test is assigned, and the start date & time has been reached, students will be notified of the assignment via a system-generated notification and an email notification.
To assign a test, perform the following steps.
- From the Test Management page, click on the desired test name. By default, the Settings tab is displayed.
- Click on the Assignments The Assignment page is displayed.
- Click the Assign button (green icon). The ‘Assign’ modal is displayed.

- Search for and select a student group or groups and/or individual students.

- Click the Assign button. A confirmation message and a list of assignments is displayed.
Publish Tests
After the test has been created, questions have been added, test settings have been configured, and the test has been assigned, it’s time to publish it so students can access it, once the start date and time has been reached.
To publish a test, perform the following steps.
- From the Test Management page, click on the desired test name. By default, the Settings tab is displayed.
Note: The publish button will not display until there are test questions and assignments.
- Click the Publish button. A confirmation message is displayed, and the test status is updated on the Test Management page.
